Pattern and design can be dramatic without dominating a space. Subtleties of design should be interesting, not overwhelming.

The finishes we create for you can stand alone as an independent focal point or serve as an elegant background for your fine furnishings, antiques, and art collections. Our durable color finishes suit many surfaces, any color range or design style, and projects of all sizes.

Color is light
We experience color as variations of reflected light. Paint is usually mixed by combining two or more pigments together in an opaque paint base. But when painting walls with an opaque color, the result can appear visually dense or chalky.

Optical color mixing occurs when multiple hues are combined in a refined way on the surface we are viewing. These colors can be used in many forms, such as translucent glazes, pigments and mica powders, and applied as layered or broken color. We employ many techniques and combinations of materials to create the luminous colors of our finishes, colors that ultimately become mixed in the eye of the viewer.

Experience the difference with optical color mixing
This type of color application causes the reflected light of surface colors to be delivered to your eyes at different rates, so your experience in a space where we have employed our techniques and materials is different than if you were surrounded by flat, opaque color. Colors will shift and become transformed as the light in the room changes throughout the day and night, and these colors appear different even as the seasons change. Colors of your fabrics and furnishings will have a rich interaction with your wall surfaces.

In walls that are treated with our optical color techniques, you may see indications of multiple colors when you are close to the surface. As you step away from the surface, the colors merge and blend in your own eye, to appear as a soft drifting color, washing over the room.

We have used our colors in homes with styles of sophisticated elegance to cozy cottages; from energizing, bold clear colors to colors having more dramatic patterning or textures, to the more muted washes of complex color that will envelop you in a soothing quiet space.

Our clients find these colors and finishes intriguing and rewarding
Muted and tonal, bold and saturated, or fantasy brights. Our palettes and styles will be keyed to current and future trends as well as to the requirements of your project and your personal favorites—the colors that make you feel great. Timeless elegance and appropriateness to the site are of ultimate importance.

We create our colors, designs, and palette selections from our own artistic experiences and inspirations. Seasoned with cutting edge information on color trends and blended with an understanding of human response to color, our recipe for beautiful colors satisfies your design needs.
