I recently purchased a large wool area rug for my living room and it totally transformed the look and feel of the room. The colors are key too of course. It looks as if I chose the rug first and then the colors in my home. They are that close!

When I choose a color scheme for my clients, I usually pull colors from the area rugs to tie in with the color palette for the home. But I look to choose a “secondary color” from the rug and not the obvious choice to really give the room a unique and colorful option.
