How we see color
It’s all in our brain! We visually perceive color as reflected light.
Think of the rainbow—the full spectrum of color, in light. There’s no black or gray.
When there’s black or gray in the paint mix, the effect on the walls is “visual dead space;” nothing is reflected back because, as you know, black does not reflect light.
Color is Light!
Why we say “There’s More Real Color in Full Spectrum formulas.”
In our Full Spectrum colors, we are using a MINIMUM of 7 tints in every color to create even the lightest off-whites, the “neutral” earthy types and of course the more saturated, color-rich varieties. The idea behind this approach to mixing color is that we want to mimic the spectral colors of sunlight, and create a more sunlight-filled experience within your built environment—even with our deeper and more saturated colors.
Most paint companies mix any of their colors with a very limited group of tints. It’s common to see paint formulas that are limited to around 3 or 4 colors including the base. Virtually all the usual paints—from the lightest to the most saturated or bright colors—contain some amount of black or gray.
But not in EcoHues! Full Spectrum color is Integral Color—and essential color.

Color is for Kids, Too!
Yes, Kids Love Color, so surround your kids with healthy color.
But are you confused and unsatisfied with the typical colors for kids? Bright pinks, candy colors, cartoon colors…are they really the right way to go?
There are a variety of factors at play in selecting colors for your children, and it’s not about opening a box of crayons or choosing the colors of their favorite TV characters. We all want our kids to love the colors of their rooms, but at the same time it’s equally important to provide guidance, since we want them to be truly as happy and healthy as possible in their own spaces.
That’s where Full Spectrum color is so important.
Simply put: the absence of black or gray—and the presence of at least 7 colors in each of our EcoHues Full Spectrum paints—gives you the confidence that you are providing the most healthy color environment possible for your children. Our colors are appropriate for people of Any age—from newborns to elders. Our “edited palette” is small, but the colors work beautifully together.
